Choose the Record Holder
For a local jail booking or release transaction, begin with the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office. The Orleans Justice Center campus is in the 2800 Perdido Street area of New Orleans. The reviewed official sources did not verify a current records-unit phone, office hours, or copy fee, so use the sheriff’s current contact or public-records page before sending a request.
Different questions belong with different offices:
- For an OPSO release sheet, use the sheriff’s public-records channel and identify the booking number.
- For a Criminal District Court order or certified minute entry, contact the Clerk’s Records Division at 504-658-9000 after verifying the number on its current site.
- For a municipal or traffic case, use the Municipal and Traffic Court; the city directory lists 504-658-8500.
- For juvenile information, an authorized person may contact JJIC at 504-658-3400 or Juvenile Court at 504-658-9500, subject to confidentiality.
- For a state prisoner or discharge, use Louisiana DPS&C Inmate Information or its telephone locator at 225-383-4580. For a federal case, use the BOP locator for sentenced custody and USMS FOIA for a focused pretrial custody request.
- For supervision, the New Orleans Probation and Parole District is listed at 1250 Poydras Street, Suite 450, fourth floor, New Orleans, LA 70113, 504-962-4400; verify before visiting.
- For immigration custody, search the ICE Online Detainee Locator. If the result is unclear, call 1-888-351-4024 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday except federal holidays.
