Information You Choose to Send
Queries Entered in Search Tools
A name, location, or other term entered into a search feature is transmitted to the third-party provider that operates that feature. The provider needs the query to return its results. Orleans Parish Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The search provider’s privacy terms apply to its receipt, use, and retention of the query.
Emails and Contact Messages
If you email us or use a contact form, we retain the message and the contact details you supplied long enough to review and answer it. We do not share the message outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law. Please do not send passwords, financial account details, confidential court material, or sensitive personal records through a general contact channel.
Technical Details Collected Automatically
Basic network and usage details may be recorded when a page loads. These logs help deliver the requested page, understand ordinary traffic, and diagnose failures. Depending on the browser, device, and service involved, those details can include:
- the internet protocol address used for the visit;
- the browser name and version;
- the device category and operating system;
- the pages opened and the time spent on them;
- the referring website, when one is supplied; and
- the date and time attached to the request.
Cookie Controls
Cookies and similar browser storage can help measure how visitors move through the site and whether features work as expected. You may block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Some search, preference, analytics, or advertising features may work differently or fail to remember choices when cookies are disabled.
Reasons We Use the Information
Information is used only for operating, improving, and supporting the site and the services visitors choose to use. Common purposes include:
- delivering pages and keeping the site stable and responsive;
- sending a search request to the partner selected by the tool;
- measuring which Orleans Parish record pages visitors find useful;
- detecting errors, misuse, and other technical problems; and
- displaying advertising that may reflect inferred interests.
Privacy Beyond This Website
Links may lead to OPSO booking resources, Louisiana corrections pages, court or government portals, release-record sources, and third-party search services. Those destinations set their own privacy rules. Once you follow a link, review the destination’s notice before entering personal information because this Privacy Notice does not control another operator’s systems.
Advertising providers may use cookies or similar tools on their own systems to understand activity across more than one website and select targeted advertisements. That processing is performed by the advertising provider, not within the Orleans Parish Released Inmates records content itself. Browser and provider controls may offer ways to limit such activity.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited information may still reach vendors or authorities when needed to provide a requested function, operate the site, or comply with law. Potential recipients include:
- search partners that process the query a visitor submits;
- analytics providers that measure traffic and page performance;
- advertising networks that deliver and assess advertisements; and
- law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order.
Safeguards and Security Limits
Reasonable, commonly used administrative and technical practices are followed to reduce unauthorized access, alteration, or loss. Internet transmission and connected storage always carry risk, however. No website, network, or security control can be promised as breach-proof. Visitors should use care when deciding what to send and should avoid including sensitive details that are not needed for the request.
Visitors Younger Than Eighteen
The site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly seek or collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or legal guardian who believes a minor submitted personal data may use the Contact Us page to identify the submission and request deletion. We may ask for enough information to locate the data and confirm the requester’s authority.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and the ability to verify the request, you may ask us to take the following actions concerning personal information held by us:
- provide a copy of the personal data associated with you;
- correct information that is inaccurate;
- erase information that no longer must be retained; or
- stop or limit certain processing where an opt-out right applies.
These requests concern data controlled by Orleans Parish Released Inmates. A sheriff, court, Louisiana DPS&C, search partner, analytics provider, or advertising network controls its own records and must receive requests through its own process.
Changes to This Privacy Notice
We may revise this notice when technology, vendors, law, or site practices change. The updated wording will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after a revision means the current notice applies to later activity. Visitors should review it from time to time when privacy choices are important to them.
